Welcome to Kirkennan

In June 2013, we made the decision to trade our professional lives in London—Michael as a solicitor and Jenny working in overseas development—for a completely different pace of life in South West Scotland. We plunged full-bore into running Kirkennan Estate, and while it is full of daily challenges, it has lived up to every single one of our hopes.

Our Philosophy

    The Historic Gardens

    We were originally captivated by Kirkennan’s magnificent mature trees and the immense potential of the Victorian walled garden. Today, working outside and growing our own organic produce is at the very heart of our way of life.

    Sustainable Tourism

    We are deeply committed to making Kirkennan as environmentally sustainable as possible. It is an ongoing journey, but we were incredibly proud to see our efforts recognized with a Green Tourism Gold Award.

    The Cottages

    We lovingly restored our three historic cottages—The Lodge, The Mews, and Woodsedge—in stages. Over a decade later, it is a joy to welcome a loyal community of returning guests who love this peaceful estate as much as we do.

    Designed entirely on one level, this welcoming cottage features a relaxing living room with a woodburning stove and a fully equipped kitchen. It includes a purpose-built accessible wet room, a riser-recliner armchair, and private enclosed gardens.
